The dream of many musicians is how to learn perfect pitch. Absolute pitch is the ability to hear a musical note or tone and be able to identify it without any outside help. Few of us are born with this ability. This skill is learn or develop by many young musicians that started their music lessons early in life. They are usually string or piano players. Absolute pitch or perfect pitch is a very difficult skill or technique to learn.
Most of us that started music lessons later in life, develop what is called relative pitch. Relative pitch is the ability to identify a note or tone by relating it to another note or tone from and outside source. Many musicians develop this skill as their musical abilities increase.
Training your ears is the first process in knowing how to learn perfect pitch. It is the most important step involved in learning this skill. You don't need perfect pitch to make ear training a success. Ear training is good for the development of relative pitch.
Here are a few skills or techniques you should know for your training in acquiring absolute pitch.
1.Scales-You should know all twelve major and their minor scales. You don't have to memorize all of them, just know how they are formed. Just remember for every major scale or key, there is a minor key scale that has the same key signature.

Chords are a group of notes played together to produce a certain sound. The chord with the least amount of notes is called a triad. Here is a list of the amount of notes required for each type of chord.
Three Note Chord-------Triad Chord
Four Note Chord--------- Seventh Chord
Five Note Chord---------Ninth Chord
Six Note Chord----------Eleventh Chord
Seven Note Chord-------Thirteenth Chord
Many of us were not born with absolute pitch. With practice and hard work, we can learn to develop this skill. Everyone learns at a different pace. Take one scale and master it. Start on another and master that.
